If you are near any of these places, you should really go see @bensears’ band. They’re really good!

Did you know that Steve Niles’ and Greg Ruth’s Freaks of the Heartland has been optioned by Director David Gordon Green? It’s true. It’s just sitting around collecting dust, though.
The last I read was an interview with the director from 2011 on indiewire.com where he states:  "I want to do it as an animated movie now," he said. "I’ve been talking to the writer and illustrator of the comic book."However, he goes on to talk about why it hasn’t happened yet.  "It’s always financing problems," Green mused. "People want to make safe, boring zombie movies and vampire movies and comedies. Literally if I walk in the room with a really funny script or a zombie movie or aliens, they’ll say, ‘We want to see more of that, forget about those other things.’"
Oh, well. There’s always hope. Maybe the Goon movie will come about and clear a path for Freaks one day.
